Little People Are Watching

Have you seen them? They are in your house. Watching, listening, absorbing and being like you.

The Little People Are Watching

If you want to experience them up close, try to sneak a bowl of ice cream or a special treat just for yourself. Their noses are in tune with sugary delights and their ears are in tune with the crunch of a chip. You know who I am talking about. You are part of the reason they are here. So what are you going to do about the little people who are watching you?

It is tough some time dad. These little people are right there beside you a lot of the time. Their ears and eyes are listening and watching everything your say and do. Like walking computer databases they take in everything around them and the situation in which things happen. They see our triumphs and failures, mistakes and right guesses. They try to walk in our footprints on the driveway or in the dusty ground. They attempt to talk like you and act like you and if in a group one will try to take charge and be just like you and even say that they are “The Daddy”.

So what are you doing dad? What are you doing about your kids watching you? How are you acting around them? How are you treating your wife? Are you helping with the chores? Are you helping in the homeschooling? Do you watch what you say around their ears? Do they walk in and see things that they should not see when you are on the computer? Are you being a leader?

Isaiah 40:11

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

11 He protects His flock like a shepherd;
He gathers the lambs in His arms
and carries them in the fold of His garment.
He gently leads those that are nursing.

It is not easy dad! But it is worth it! Your kids will need you for the rest of their life. I used to think that there would be a day when I would not need my dad. I still do. Your kids will need your advice, still want your approval and still want to hear the words “I love you”.

So take the time now to build a relationship with your kids. Not tomorrow, or this weekend. TODAY. Make the time that your kid needs and be the dad they need today. Yeah, you might miss something on television that you wanted to see or it might interfere with some plans with you and the guys, but what is more important?

It is not easy but they are worth it each and everyday that you breath. So do not give up, do not push them to the side, do not act like they are not there. The little people are watching everything that you say and do.
