How are you being the best father you can be? Today in modern society there is no other role that is neglected more than that of being a father. This is a gift of God that has been thrown out, outsourced, put to the side for money, and walked away from by the men who stepped up to be “The Man” at the time, but are not willing to give the time now. He placed the incredible responsibility of fatherhood on my shoulders just as he did so many other men.
Now, if we look into God’s word,
before one is a father, he should be a husband first!
1 Corinthians 7
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
7 Now in response to the matters you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have relations with a woman.”
2 But because sexual immorality is so common, each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.
3 A husband should fulfill his marital responsibility to his wife, and likewise a wife to her husband.
4 A wife does not have the right over her own body, but her husband does. In the same way, a husband does not have the right over his own body, but his wife does.
Therefore, before you can be a father, a responsible father, you must first be a good husband. You must love your one wife, honor, cherish, nourish her in every way and aspect of her life.
Ephesians 5:25-30

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her
26 to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. 27 He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless.
28 In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hates his own flesh but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the church,
30 since we are members of His body.
Now, if you are doing all of this you will be prepared to be a good and honorable father. But there is one thing that shows that you are being a good and honorable father, that is the life of your kids. You see, you can do all that you want to do, say all that you want to say, yet the proof of your work is in the walk of your children.
Guys, I am not going to lie and tell you that life is easy being a father, husband, provider, protector, medic, mechanic, carpenter, cook, part-time bottle washer, and jack-of-all-trades. But what I am going to share with you is there is a way to go about being the absolute best dad/father that you can be. I am going to cover three topics that a father has to know so that he will be the best that he can be.
- Responsibility
- Accountability
- Future
Some of this will hurt, trust me I feel the pain as well. Some of it will not be what you may want to hear, but we all need to hear it. So hang in there and finish it out with me as we work on being the best fathers we can be.
