76 Days till Washington DC!!

In 76 days my family and I will be making the drive (700 miles) into Washington DC to attend the Teach Them Diligently Convention! We have attended the convention the past two years in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but with us finishing a two-year American History run, the ability to be at the convention and do a tour is just way too tempting. If you have not made up your mind to go to one of the four conventions being held across the southeast, let me give you a quick tour of what all you could expect.

There will be speakers for the dads on Saturday at the mens breakfast. Guys, this is an outstanding time for you to get a recharge. The Washington, D.C. Men’s Breakfast is Saturday, May 17 from 8 to 9am and includes a delicious breakfast served beginning at 7:45am. Cost of the event is only $10 for adults (over 16) and $7 (children 16 and younger) which covers the cost of the breakfast and is available to both men and young men. Admission is by ticket only. From what I have received in the Spartanburg conventions over the past two years, I am really looking forward to this years speaker.

Once your charged up and ready to hit the convention, your wife with all the kids will show up and you will start to wonder about what to do next. That is easy, just follow the 6 step program I have outlined below and you will survive.

Step 1 : Don’t panic.
Step 2 : Head over to the Children’s Program or 4:12 Teen Program area and drop off the kids.
Step 3 : Relax and go hear some great speakers on homeschooling, business, life, and encouragement.
Step 4 : When that speaker is done, go hear another or wander across the vendor hall.
Step 5 : Come back the next day and do it all over!
Step 6 : Go home pumped up, energized, encouraged, prepared and tired!

You will have to get the kids later on for some lunch, but then you take them back and return to your convention ramblings. I can’t wait to listen to the encouragement of Mark Hamby, the great words of wisdom from Ken Ham, and the biblical truth from Voddie Baucham! Unfortunately, at this time, I will not be speaking at the convention. However there is something great going to happen with a joint venture with Conversaving.com and Husband of a Homeschooling Mom while at the convention. So stay tuned for that earthshaking news as things get closer.

Lastly guys, if you think that you will get nothing out of this experience, then do it for the wife who in most cases is the real soldier in the trenches when it comes to homeschooling. Show your support and encouragement for what she is doing to better your kids life. Take the time to let her see, experience, get built up, and let her know that she, and you, are not alone. I promise that if you go, you will get something out of the trip that you were not expecting at all. The conference prices start at $55/family for a short time only. Then the price will be going up to $75. But Wait…there’s more! If you register online, you will get three months of the Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Planner for free!

If you are interested in simply looking through all that is offered at the conventions and the locations, just click on the link for Teach Them Diligently. I can surely say that it was an eye-opening event for me to attend the convention back in 2012 and I can not wait till May 15th – 17th to get here! Look out DC, here comes the Husband of a Homeschooling Mom!

Till next time,
I’m just a Husband of a Homeschooling Mom.
