Praying For Her Feet

Today I am starting a new series to the men who actually read the blog. This one is centered at you so that you may pray for your wife. Now I am not talking the normal blanket prayer that many times we as men like to throw in our prayer life. I am talking about taking time to specifically pray for our wives and in key areas as well. I want you to give this a try, and you will see the changes that take place when a praying husband takes time to pray for his wife.

Pray For Her Feet

Pray for Her Feet

Since this is the beginning of this series, we might as well start at the base of the human body – Feet. You need to pray that her feet would be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace so that she might faithfully pursue righteousness and love.

11 I am teaching you the way of wisdom;
I am guiding you on straight paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered;
when you run, you will not stumble.
(Proverbs 4:11-12 HCSB)

We as the men of the household should be ministering and teaching our family the Word of God.  It can be hard with everything that goes on in the daily lives of most families to sit down and do Bible study or have a family devotion.  However, it is our responsibility to do that dad.  If you can not make it a nightly thing, then make it a weekly.  Set the path before your family that they can follow.  Clear the way so they will not stumble on the things of this world.  This is your job.

15 and your feet sandaled with readiness
for the gospel of peace.
(Ephesians 6:15 HCSB)

Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, wrote a letter to the Ephesians.  In that letter, he described an armor that should be worn by the believers of Christ to protect us on a daily basis.  Just as the soldiers of that time would wear the armor to protect themselves in battle, so should we protect ourselves in the spiritual battles in our lives.  One part of the armor covers the feet with the readiness for the gospel of peace.

A wise general or leader looks after his soldiers’ boots. If they give out, nothing else is of much use. The roads at times are very tough and very lengthy, and there need to be strong soles and well-sewed uppers.  This is the job of the husband, the leader of his house, to make sure that the feet of his wife is prepared to move forward into what ever my be laid ahead of her.

To do this, make a point to pray for that her feet will be laid to a clear, straight path.  And if adversity comes, her feet will be ready with the ability to bring peace to the situation and share the gospel of Christ to all she comes in contact with.  Because it was Jesus himself that said that we should go to all the ends of the earth proclaiming the good news of the gospel.  To get there we all need to take it one step at a time.

Next we will be moving our way up and talking about praying for your wives legs…So get ready for that one!

Till next time…
