Our kids deserve a responsible father in their life. Sadly enough in todays society, the men in kids life are not their fathers. They are uncles, step-father, or a friend. The role of a responsible father is being abandoned and the damage that is being inflicted on the kids is devastating.
You see men, you can’t turn back now you are part of the company! You may not have a company consisting of 13 dwarfs and a wizard (if you do, let me know!) but you have a family that depends on you just as the company was depending on Bilbo.
However, take the biggest life style change that you could ever do and give control of your life, your decisions, your thoughts, your desires, your wants, your wife and kids over to the one who holds it all in His hands.
The life that you are living is being watched by the ones that are with you. They hear your words but see your actions even better. It is one thing to talk the talk and another thing to walk the walk!
That last sentence is what we should do no matter where we are. But many times in our life as a dad, we get overrun by the world and we loose sight of what is important. Dads I am challenging you to take a vacation!
As the coach of the team, it is my responsibility to know the offense of the other team, their defense, their tactics and possible sneak plays. In knowing these things, I need to have my own offense, defense and special tactics that I can use against the other team.

I was invited to eat with a group of men tonight that will be speaking, attending or serving in some capacity with the “Why Me?” men’s conference in Thomaston, Georgia next Friday and Saturday. After one delicious low country boil, the men made their way down to the dock at the lake. As 14 decent sized men eased out onto this weathered dock we felt the shifts of age and the creep of time on the structure.
Today is a special day to me. If it was not for this day coming around some 59 years ago, I would not be here. Today is the 59th birthday of my daddy, Rusty Blackston.
When has be become acceptable to only wear bra and panties when you are going to the pool, lake, river, or ocean; however, you have to put on more clothes to go into a place of business? I am not saying that a lady should not be proud of the way she looks.
I was asked a question by my oldest son just the other day. A question that actually brought a tear to my eye when I looked at it from his prospective. So today, I ask you the same question.
There are times when your kids will start asking questions. They turn into rapid fire machines it would seem and are able to ask questions faster than you can answer. They will start humming or making noises that will somehow find just the right wavelength to become the most irritating noise in the world.
“When I get the time son…” or “Let’s go guys…I don’t have a lot of time…” or “I got a time schedule going here, let’s move it…” Are these the phrases that your kids hear from you? Dad are the kids constantly fighting for your time, are you are fighting for your time and your wife is fighting for your time? We fight and struggle to get it all done and only leave a few seconds of time for God. Let’s talk about time.
